The Laredo Development Foundation in coordination
with the Logistics and Manufacturing Association, Port Laredo
and Texas A&M International University will host the
17th Annual Logistics and Manufacturing Symposium
on September 15-17, 2010
at Texas A&M International University's Student Center.

This year’s Symposium theme is entitled “Plotting the Course: U.S. Ports – Gateways to the World Markets.”  Conference will focus on certain fundamental attributes that govern a port's ability to become a leader in facilitating global supply chains and remain attractive to shipping lines and their customers.  These attributes are market access, port and border administration, transportation and communications infrastructure and the overall business environment.  In addition, the Conference will focus on the right balance for future port capacity and infrastructure.  The balance sought is the right balance between service and cost, and the right infrastructure.  Port capacity and infrastructure will be determined by the trade, by the customer and the size of the ports and their proximity to the customer's distribution centers and distribution network.  With this, the Top Ten Customs Districts in the United States have been invited to participate which includes in order of ranking the Ports of Los Angeles, New York, Houston, Detroit, New Orleans, Laredo, Chicago, Seattle, San Francisco, and Savannah.

The symposium is expected to attract professionals from the following areas: Suppliers, Site Selection Managers, Manufacturers, Transportation and Logistics Companies, Strategic Planners, Operations Managers, Business Development Specialists, Chief Executives and Management, Economic Development Professionals, U.S. Customs Brokers, U.S. Freight Forwarders, and Mexican Customs Brokers.

The full registration for the Symposium is $300 for LDF/LMA member and $350 for non-member or $150 per day.  Exhibitor spaces are available at a cost of $400 which includes 2 full registrations to attend all Symposium events, reserved space of 6x6 with skirted table and 2 chairs.  Exhibit booth space is limited and reserved as a first come, first serve basis.  Exhibit setup will be Wednesday, September 15, 2010 from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.  Exhibit move-out will be Friday, September 17, 2010 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  For Exhibit setup and move-out, please contact Miki Rubio, Event & Conference Manager, TAMIU-Student Center at (956) 326-2930 or fax at (956) 326-2929 or via email at miki.rubio@tamiu.edu.
