Why Join

The Port of Laredo is currently ranked as the Number One inland port on the U.S. - Mexico border and the Number Six largest Customs District in the United States managing over 185 billion dollars of international trade with 60 countries from around the world and with 700 of the Fortune 1000 companies. Only the Ports of  Los Angeles-Long Beach, New York-New Jersey, Houston-Galveston, Detroit, and New Orleans in the U.S. rank ahead of the Port of Laredo. However, the newly developed international trade corridor bridging the Port of Lazaro Cardenas and Manzanillo to the Port of Laredo; the new Cold Storage Inspection Facilities at World Trade and Colombia Solidarity Bridges and the additional seven lane expansion at the World Trade Bridge will increase our port capacity, foster “added value” economic opportunities and secure our port ranking as one of the top Customs District in the United States.  It will also prepare our port to service the future international trade needs created by these new automotive plants being built in Mexico.

Furthermore, this small Spanish Villa, founded 256 years ago on the banks of the Rio Grande, is quickly becoming the most modern city in South Texas.  Ranked as one of the top 25 fastest growing cities and ranked in the top ten places to invest in the United States, Laredo continues to thrive and modernize in the process at a tremendous pace.  In addition, recent economic impact studies forecast the Eagle Ford Shale  as one of the most significant United States oil discoveries in the past 40 years and will spur economic prosperity to the City of Laredo, County of Webb and South Texas.
